Lebanon Valley College’s New Nursing Education Facility Receives National Award

Nursing Education Facility designated with an Outstanding Project Award.
The Lebanon Valley College Nursing Education Facility was honored with an Outstanding Project Award during Learning By Design Magazine’s Spring 2025 Architecture and Interior Awards of Excellence showcase. A panel of architects and education facility professionals reviewed submissions nationwide based on: Design Challenges and Innovation; Sustainability and Social Impact; Interior Architecture/Design; Next Generation Learning; Functional Design/Effective Space Planning; and Community Needs. LVC’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
“It is rewarding to have the collaborative work our faculty, facilities team, regional experts, and higher education nursing professionals put into the planning, design, and construction of the Nursing Education Facility recognized nationally,” said Dr. James M. MacLaren, LVC President. “This comprehensive preparation led to a cutting-edge academic center that prepares our Nursing graduates to be in high demand upon graduation, and adds critical resources for our growing health professions programs.”
Noelker and Hull Associates Inc. provided architectural and interior design for Lebanon Valley College’s new 36,000 gross square foot Nursing Education Facility, which opened in Fall 2023. The facility was designed to support the campus’s health professions curriculum and complement the existing Jeanne & Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion.
Strategically positioned, the state-of-the-art learning center directly links to the Arnold Health Professions Pavilion on the North Campus, reinforcing a cohesive identity for the expanded health professions campus. The hillside location offered a unique opportunity to create an inviting outdoor green space. Inside, the facility is equipped with program-specific amenities like a state-of-the-art simulation suite with five simulation rooms and adjacent supervisory control rooms, facilitating hands-on training in a realistic environment.
The skills lab is designed to accommodate two learning sessions simultaneously. Flexible classrooms and various study options are available to support individual and group activities, fostering collaboration and effective learning. An administrative suite ensures faculty and staff have dedicated space to manage the program efficiently. Exterior materials were selected to create a seamless transition between structures.
The new Nursing Education Facility represents a significant investment in Nursing education at Lebanon Valley College, providing students with the resources necessary for professional development.
