The Governor Tom Corbett Collection
The Governor Tom Corbett Collection comprises approximately 59 linear feet of documents, photographs, audio-visual materials, and artifacts. Donated to the Vernon and Doris Bishop Library at Lebanon Valley College between 2017 and 2020, by the Pennsylvania State Archives in Harrisburg and Governor Tom Corbett (LVC Class of 1971), the collection contains materials spanning nearly 45 years of Governor Corbett’s public and private life. Among items researchers will discover are materials relating to Tom Corbett’s service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard (1971-1984), his tenure as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania (1989-1993), his two non-consecutive terms as state attorney general (1995-1997; 2005-2011), his role as chair of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) (1995-2003), and his term as the 46th Governor of Pennsylvania (2011-2015). Various photographs of Governor Tom Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett are also located within the collection, providing a window into their public and private lives.
This collection contains a wealth of knowledge about Governor Tom Corbett’s role in Pennsylvania history and can act as a great teaching tool for educators or researchers seeking to understand Governor Corbett’s life, service, and legacy in and to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The mission of the Governor Tom Corbett Collection at Lebanon Valley College, is to preserve, arrange, and make available to internal and external affiliates of the College, the permanent records of Governor Tom Corbett, both before and during his governorship. In doing so, the collection aims to honor Corbett’s decades-long legacy of public service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania while also providing insight into his life beyond politics.
